OUR STORY

Coffee for Good is not your ordinary high-end coffee shop, it is also a training platform for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Our goal is to be a self-sustaining, nonprofit that provides employment based training for people with disabilities.  Coffee for Good will be giving our trainees the opportunity to succeed and be part of the local workforce.

OUR MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES BY REDUCING THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN THAT COMMUNITY.

Coffee for Good's three goals are:

To employ and train as many people with disabilities as possible

To be a self-sustaining nonprofit coffee shop

To be a warm and inclusive community gathering place

Coffee for Good is located in the 1858 Mead House on the campus of Second Congregational Church.  The historic Mead House is a warm “Old World” setting for a coffee shop which is conveniently located in central Greenwich with ample, free parking.

WHY COFFEE FOR GOOD?

Coffee for Good is part of a nationwide trend of many independent coffee shops across the country that have opened in the last few years with the objective of employing people with disabilities, a community that suffers from chronic unemployment rates of over 80%. Fortunately modern technologies and automated coffee equipment make retail jobs possible for people with disabilities, provided they receive the right training. The training platform at Coffee for Good is crucial to our mission: reducing unemployment levels within our local community and increasing workforce diversity.  Our trainees earn minimum wage while working and learning at Coffee for Good.  After six to eighteen months of training we help our graduates will find competitive integrated employment close to where they live.

Coffee for Good relies on a large and diverse group of volunteers to help us fulfill our goals. Click here if you are interested in volunteering.
